Plant was launched in Russia, road construction began using its products. The first city that used Penoplex extruded foamed polystyrene for insulating streets was St.Petersburg.

In 1999, PENOPLEX^® was used for the construction of a pedestrian zone on Malaya Sadovaya Street. The design of the street implied heating, and it was needed to reduce heat loss and maintenance costs. The design used an insulating layer constructed from PENOPLEX^® boards that reduced the flow of heat to the soil of the foundation.

In 1999, Malaya Morskaya Street was also reconstructed. Under the surface of the street was a large number of service lines. The use of PENOPLEX^® allowed to decrease the level of the frost line and avoid the interference from the service line with the base layers of the street.

In 2000, the reconstruction of Line 6 and Line 7 of Vasilievsky Island began. The heating system that ran under the street posed certain difficulties to the construction work. During the design stage, a decision to use PENOPLEX^® was made to decrease the depth of the frost line and protect the pavement from frost heaving.

The Sennaya Square in St.Petersburg is located, in part, over an underground platform of a subway station. In 2002, PENOPLEX^® was used to ensure even heaving of the road over the subway platform and adjacent areas.
