About PENOPLEX / Insulation of roofs / Pitched roofs
Pitched roofs are especially valued by architects, because they better match the esthetics of cityscapes and rural areas, and offer a greater degree of freedom for interior design, creating a special "habitat" for people.
We recommend using insulation above rafters thus insulating the entire area of the roof without spaces or gaps (Fig. 1 and 2).

Securing the structure mechanically (with nails) should not pose a problem. Water protection elements (metal shingles, etc.) are installed on a frame on top of the insulation.
The thickness of the insulant is calculated according to local codes and regulations.
When a thin layer of PENOPLEX® is laid on top of rafters, additional insulation may be achieved by filling the space between rafters with insulating materials.

It is also possible to secure insulating boards underneath the rafters (Fig. 3). This will offer additional insulation for an existing roof that is being renovated. In this event, it is important to provide sufficient ventilation to the attic.
