About PENOPLEX / Insulation of roofs / Lightweight roofs for industrial buildings
In contemporary construction, as well as when repairing flat roofs with metal profile, reliable and technologically advance roofing that is lightweight and easy to build and maintain is a task of utmost importance.
Using PENOPLEX® offers an optimal solution to this problem.

Specifications of PENOPLEX® boards allow for working with them all year round.
Detailed design considerations for buildings lightweight roofs:
- Prepare the surface of metal profile and place vapor barrier – roofing, anti-corrosive, or waterproof mastic – on it. Use a single sheet or only insulate the joints.
- Install PENOPLEX® boards (thickness will vary upon particular application) to a width greater than the width of the filtering layer that will go on top of it. Secure PENOPLEX® temporarily.
- Prepare rolls of waterproof membrane so that they overlap one another by 120 mm lengthwise and 70 mm crosswise. When using fixtures with a width of diameter of over 45 mm, increase the width of overlaps.
- Use metal strips and Drywall screws to secure the pieces of waterproof membrane.
- Weld the pieces of waterproof membrane together so that the seam overlaps mechanical fixtures and the width of overlaps is at least 30 mm.
- The number of fixtures per one square meter depends on the calculated wind load. Approximate load per fixture is 500 N (varies from fixture type); recommended distance between fixtures is 200–550 mm and depends on the width of the waterproof membrane. The length of fixtures depends on the total thickness of all the layers of roofing and the type of roofing base.
- Wait at least 30 min after finishing the welding work and check the quality of the welded seams. If you notice any divergence from high-quality standards, remedy all the questioned parts.
- The best settings for the welding equipment at 15–20°C: airflow temperature – 500±100°C, airflow speed – 1.5–3.0 m/min, pressure – equals the weight of the welding machine plus 10 kg.
These solutions for building lightweight roofing will decrease the load on supporting structures approximately from 70 to 4.5 kg per square meter, compared to traditional roofing design.
