About PENOPLEX / Insulation of foundations / Insulation of foundations
PENOPLEX® helps address the most relevant issues when constructing basements and foundations. It offers efficient and long-lasting insulation of foundations and basements, which is distinguished by the fact that it does not have heat conducting bridges. PENOPLEX® boards reliably protect the layer of hydroinsulation and offer sufficient drainage of ground water, thus lowering the pressure to underground elements of buildings. PENOPLEX® boards are secured to the layer of hydroinsulation and then covered with soil. There is no need to provide additional mechanical fastening. Usually,PENOPLEX® boards are installed vertically along the perimeter of a building so that they overlap one another, beginning from the lowest row. The top layer should protrude above the ground level by 400-500 mm to eliminate the danger of ground water level raising to the elements of the walls of the first floor. Drainage pipes should be covered with a sand and gravel mix to a hight of 1000-1200 mm. Because PENOPLEX®does not decompose, there is no danger from it getting in contact with water.
