About PENOPLEX / Insulation of floors / Insulation of floors
Floors play a significant role in keeping heat inside of a building. In a house without an insulation layer, losses through the floor can reach 20 percent of the total heat loss. Floor insulation is used to prevent this.
When designing floors, remember that a condensate may form where the floor joins the walls. This may lead to molds that have a negative impact on structures and health. The most effective method for preventing this is good design and thorough insulation and heating of the floor. Materials used for insulation must sustain increased loads and thus, should be durable and have a low pressure deformation factor.
Other important properties of insulating materials that can minimize their thickness are low thermal conductivity and an ability to maintain original insulating properties during a virtually indefinite period of time, even if exposed to humid conditions and mechanical load. PENOPLEX® insulation boards have all the above properties. They are easy to work with, quick to install, and do not produce much waste. This helps minimize the cost of insulation work.
