About PENOPLEX / Insulation of floors / First floor
The advantages of PENOPLEX® boards become especially evident when insulating buildings that do not have basements and their first floor is erected immediately on the foundation base. Insulation efficiency will be high even under extreme conditions, such as moisture, low temperatures, and mechanical stress.
Such design becomes especially important when there exist groundwater and water bearing soil layers at construction sites.
Laying PENOPLEX®
Because PENOPLEX® boards have enclosed cells, you can lay them underneath hydroinsulating membranes on top of a rigid bed from large gravels with a leveling level of sand, provided that the underlying layer is over 100 mm.
Using this methods allows you to bypass a concrete foundation. When a hydroinsulating membrane is on the warm side of thermal insulating boards, it also serves as an additional thermal insulating layer. The thickness of a distribution sheet that serves as a base for the actual floor is calculated depending on the purpose of the building. To lay a hydroinsulating membrane on top of a layer of thermal insulation use cold adhesives without thinners or plasticizers.
